5 Tips for a Successful First Dance Class
At The Dance Network, we know that a child's first dance class is a very special event!
Whether your little one has been asking for months or you're sharing your favorite childhood experience with them, emotions can run high on the first day. We want to make sure that you and your child have a positive experience.
Here are 5 tips for a successful first dance class:
1) Get Acquainted with the Studio
Call ahead of time to schedule a tour so you and your child can familiarize yourself with our studio. Click HERE to call and reserve a time with our studio office!
2) Arrive a Few Minutes Early
It's best to arrive about 10 minutes early to go to the bathroom, put dance shoes on, and acclimate your child to the studio environment.
Our studio is located in the Magnolia Center at 5130 Hollister Ave, Santa Barbara.
3) Bring Your Dancer Fed and Rested
Make sure your child eats a snack before dance class - a hungry dancer is not a happy dancer. If your dancer still takes naps, make sure to find a class that is not during their natural nap time.
4) Consider Buying Shoes and Apparel Ahead of Time
We don't expect you to have everything for your first class. However, buying dance clothes and shoes can get your child excited about dance class and make them feel more confident! To learn more about the dance wear we sell at our studio, CALL or EMAIL our studio office.
5) Talk Them Through What Is Going To Happen Before You Arrive
For most dancers, a dance class is their first independent class experience. You can make them feel more confident by talking them through how they will get ready, telling them about their teacher, and letting them know that they will be dancing with new friends.

If you have any other questions, feel free to contact our studio office and we would be happy to help. We look forward to giving your dancer an enjoyable first dance class. See you soon!
